Much needed update

Okay so it's been awhile since I posted anything well when I last left you I told you guys how I wasn't sure if my school was going to allow me to do the program or not well I finally got my answer.

And the answer is.....................

YES!

My school is letting me do the program I don't get any credit for it but I don't care I'm happy that they are letting me go. I officially leave in 19 days, I still have so much to do and so much to buy but I don't care I'm just happy that I officially can say that I get to do the Disney College Program. Now that it is official I am thinking of starting of doing vlogs for my friends and family back home.

That's all for now. :D

A block in the road

Yesterday I went to go with an adviser at my college to talk about the program. Well I found out that I don't meet the retirements, I already knew I would have to take one summer class since I was 2 credits off of the requirements, for my school you have to have all your developmental classes done before you can do any kind on internship.

I'm missing four classes, which all four are impossible to take in one summer. Now I have to go meet with the head of the English department to see if one of two things can happen either he will wave the 2 (other) English classes I need to take or let me take the English part of the placement test to see if I can get rid of those two classes.

I'm hoping things goes well, I guess I'm back to wishing on stars for the best it would suck to make it this far and have everything ripped out from under me.

Have a magical day and please wish on some stars for me, once again.

I Will Go The Distance

I received the answer to my fate on March 21, my mom came in my room while I was watching Nick Pitera Disney Medley (it happened to be the part where he was singing Go The Distance when my mom came in) in her hand was an envelope, she had to take it away from dad since he didn't want to give it to me, he was trying to figure out what it said but my mom took from him and immediately ran to my room yelling my name, once I saw the envelope I knew what it was. A big white envelope, that only means one thing, yup I GOT INTO THE WALT DISNEY WORLD COLLEGE PROGRAM!!!! I hadn't revived a an email but if you do remember I did get a pending letter on February 22.
I got in for Quick Service Food and Beverage.

To all those still pending just have faith and wish upon a star, it worked for me. Don't stress and keep checking your email constantly, even though I did, your purple folder might be coming in the mail.

*Ring Ring* It's Disney on the phone.

I had had my phone interview scheduled for this morning at 9:30 AM eastern. It last a little over 18 minutes long. I had Linda (haha) as my interviewer, she was really nice.  I have to say I was freaking out a little before I was reviewing my notes which were taped to a wall in front of me. I noticed it was 9:25 and started to get even more nervous but when my phone rang at 9:32 I just took a deep breath and answered the phone with a smile.  But once the interview started I already felt calm. I'm pretty sure I did well, I did have my interviewer laughing during most of it.

There were times that I did second guess myself or though to myself "why did you just say that" but what is done is done, I smiled and stayed true to myself and now all I can do is wait.

Here are some questions that I was asked during the interview:

  • What is your favorite park/ride?
  •  Who is your favorite Disney character?
  •  What is one issue that may occur with your roommates? How would you help solve the issue?
  • How do you feel talking in front of large audiences?
  • What is longest presentation you had to memorize? Were you able to memorize it?
  • Why are you interested in working at Disney?
  • Tell me about a photo that is special to you.
  • Are you able to use a SLR?
  • Name a time you were able to make a guest happy.
  • Why do you wanna do character attendant?
  • have you ever been to Disney?
  • What do you like about the Disney Parks?
    • If you were doing a repetitive task  how would you keep yourself interested in it?
    • How would you feel if a guest interrupted you while you were doing a task?
    • Do you have any cash handling experience?
    • What are your top 3 roles?
    • Are you a team player?
    • Do you think you would be able to stay calm in a emergency situation? Why do you think that way?
    • Name a time you had to do something in a short amount of time. What was it and were you able to accomplish it.
    • What were your past jobs and what were your duties there?

There were are a few others that I was asked, I do not remember them at the moment if I do I will come back to edit this post.

                  A second chance at fate

I took the web interview the first day that applications went up. The same day my laptop decide it didn't want to work properly and internet explorer messed up during the web interview. Due to complications during it I failed the web interview.

I called a few days after and they were able to reset it for me.

Finally had the chance to take it today and well I passed this time with no issues, well I used my brother's computer instead of mine so that helped.

Next I have to prepare for the phone interview, which I have yet to schedule.

Without a doubt Wishes has to be favorite fireworks, I love the whole show and even the music too it. I can't but cry when I see these fireworks, and even when I just listen to the soundtrack I start to tear up.

                  30 DoD: #27

Well I've never stayed on a Disney resort, besides the time I went for my Senior trip, so never really do anything on Disney property but go to the parks, and Downtown Disney. I love just walking around Downtown and just looking in the shops.

Day 23: What is the scariest ride?
This one is tough since there's no "scary" rides in Disney. But one ride, even though I do love it,  that does freak me out the first time I ride it each visit to Disney is.........

                  Rock N' Roller Coaster

Each time I go to Disney I get nervous on my first ride. The beginning freaks me out and never fails to make me nervous.

                  30 DoD: #22

                  Day 22: Favorite parade?

To my D-Family, A long letter from the bottom of my heart

I know a few girls from the D-family have done a blog post similar to this. But I have been trying to find the words to explain this all to you.

So let me take you a few years back ever since elementary school I never could make friends I really only had two friends, they both lived close by one on the corner of my street (same boy from my embarrassing story) and this other girls who lived on the street behind me. Soon enough the boy moved away and because of my issues with one girl ( from 1st grade- 7th grade) I decided to leave public school and go to a private Catholic school. My first day in that new school I learned that when you enter such a small school where your class has known each other for years already they might not be so accepting of new kids. For the first few months of school I tried to fit in and sit with a group of people who seemed nice. But it was no use finally right before Christmas break did I finally find a small group to befriend. Still I could only count the number of friends I had in that school on one hand.

Now I enter high school, things here were somewhat the same but still different. Yeah there were a few girls who knew each other from middle school and some who didn't know anyone. I knew one girl from my old school but we never had classes and after 9th grade she moved. I did end up befriending some of the girls in my class but I could only count the number of people who really acted like my friend one hand.

So really I never felt like I was part of group, by Junior year all my friends and I got separated into different classes, and even though it was our 3rd year together I still didn't know the girls in my classes and when I sat with my friends during the few lunch periods we had together they were always sitting with a new group of people, people who didn't like me. So for many lunch periods in my Junior and Senior year I sat alone.

To sum up everything I just said I never felt like I had any real friends, friends who I could turn to if I needed them. Someone who I could talk to about anything. Well that was until I met my D-Family I know feel that I'm actually apart of something, a part of a group. You guys have no idea how much it means to me when I leave how every one says "bye" or "Goodnight" or even when you ask how my day was. I feel that I can tell your guys anything, that one of you will be there if I need someone to talk to. I'm really thankful to meet a group of such amazing people. I know that not all of us might get in (even through I ope everyday that we all do) but I want you all to know that I promise to always be there for you all, I care for you gus too much to just let you all leave my life completely.

I'm sorry that was super long but I just needed to get it all out and let you all know how I truly feel.
I hope you all have a wonderful magical day.

                  Once Upon A Dream

Quick little update I decided to change the name of my blog from "Disney College Hopeful" to "Once Upon A Dream..."

                  30 DoD: Day #17

                  Day 17: Favorite restaurant?

                   Sci Fi Dine-In

I love the Sci Fi Dine-In, okay okay I have yet to eat there but the atmosphere and the whole set up is pretty awesome, when I go to Disney in the summer I wanna eat here.

Okay, now I caught myself up with this tag. :)

                  30 DoD: Day #16

Day 16: Favorite snack to grab in the parks?

I never really ate any snacks until my last Disney trip and I fell in love with the Glazed Almonds, but there's so many snacks I wanna try the next time I go to Disney. First on my list Dole Whip.

                  Wednesday, January 12, 2011

                  30 DoD: Day #15

Day 15: Favorite Walt Disney World Resort?

Okay this was a little weird to do since I've never stayed in a Disney resort or seen them before. I use to stay in the Holiday Inn, it was cheaper since we always drove down to FL, and the only time I stayed in a Disney resort was on my senior trip and we stayed in the All Stars Music resort. I liked the whole set up though it was very cute, but the funny part is how whole class was located on the "Broadway" part of the resort, we all joked how we were trying to get away from NY.
I realized once again that I forgot a day (yesterday when I was suppose to do two) so later today I will post again, so I can be caught up.

                  Monday, January 10, 2011

                  30 DoD: Day #14

I just realized that I forgot to update my blog so I'm updating now and will update again later today.
Day 14: Favorite Animal Kingdom attraction?
I love Expedition Everest. The first time I went on this was with my mom, who HATES roller coasters, the whole entire ride she was screaming at me. She was screaming at me when we were going up "Everest", did I mention she hates heights? But after that one ride, I loved this roller coaster. Another favorite memory of mine on this ride is during my Senior trip my fried and I went on this while we waited for everyone else to get off of Kilimanjaro (the wait time was too long for us). So right before you start to go backwards my friend turns to me and asks "does this ride go any faster?" well it went fast and we ended up with an awesome picture, which I ended up buying.  I will the post the picture later once I can get in on my computer.

Sorry for some of these post for some days being long, I just like to share my memories on the ride, parks, or whatever to make the post a little more interesting.

                  30 DoD: Day #12 & #13

So I was most of the day yesterday and had no internet connection, so I'm doing both days right now.

Day 12: Favorite Hollywood Studios attraction?
I love Tower of Terror. In close second is Rock 'n' Roller Coaster but there's times I can't ride roller coasters dude to my heart condition so I just choose to go on Tower of Terror, which isn't as rough for me.
Day 13: Favorite Animal Kingdom area?
I love Discovery Island to me it's the heart of Animal Kingdom it's where the Tree of Life is.

                  Friday, January 7, 2011

                  30 DoD: Day #11

Day 11: Favorite Hollywood Studios area?

                  Hollywood Boulevard

                  I'm a blushin' (tagged)

So I got tagged by Danny, so here's my embarrassing moment.

So in middle school i started to get this crush on a kid who lived on the corner of my street, we went to the same school since elementary and even been in a class together one year. Once we entered middle school they only time we saw each other was on the bus in the morning and afternoon, and when were walking to our last period class on "A" days. On "A" days we both had our second to last class on the second floor, my class was on one end of the hall while his was on the other end, closer to the stairs that lend to our classrooms for last period. So this kid would wait for me everyday "A" day so we could walk to our last class (different classrooms but located next to each other). One day I was running late to my last class, he was waiting by the stairs for me so I ran, well half way down the hall I tripped and literally slid down the rest of the hallway to where he was standing, my books went in all directions.Of course the halls had to be packed with students at the time so everyone saw it and well....yeah....everyone was laughing, including him. I turned bright red. Quickly I picked up my books and ran down the stairs and he shouted, "Don't tumble down these stairs now". The bus ride home was no fun.

I was gone for one day and I get tagged, I'm not sure who did and did not get tagged so right now I only tag Kelly McDermott

                  30 DoD: Day #10

So I just realized now that I did they wrong day yesterday, must have been late when I did it so I'm doing yesterday "day" today.
Day 9: Favorite attraction in future world?

Test track. Not much to say today.

                  Wednesday, January 5, 2011

                  30 DoD: Day #9

Day 10: Favorite attraction in the worlds?

Do I really have to say why this is my favorite? Well I'm part Mexican, and I like to hang around in "Mexico" in Epcot, and this ride is very cute with combing real people and places (the backgrounds) and cartoon characters.

                  Tuesday, January 4, 2011

                  30 DoD: Day #8

Day 8: Which is your favorite in Epcot, future world or the worlds?

Now this took some long thinking.  I've been debating this all day until now. But I think I'll have to go with Future World. The reason I really chose this is because it's the the first thing that catches my eye when I go to Disney. I always wanna go to that side of the park and ride test track over and over again., or until I get stuck on it like that last time.

                  Monday, January 3, 2011

                  30 DoD: Day #7

Day 7: Favorite attraction in Adventureland?
I love Pirates of The Caribbean, I think the reason why I love it so much it because I like pirates and the movie. :)

                  Sunday, January 2, 2011

                  30 DoD: Day #6

Day 6: Favorite attraction in Frontierland?

This is one was a bit tough for my to decided since I love both Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. I love all the mountains, I could ride them all day and nothing else and be happy. But by a very small percentage, I have to choose Splash Mountain as my favorite attraction. I usually have good luck on this ride where I either never get wet or I get wet enough to cool off during the summer. Only once did I have a bad luck though where I got completely soaked when our log was passing by the big drop when at the moment another log was going down. On top of that I find the characters very cute and I always end up singing Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah at the end.

                  30 DoD: Day #5

Day 5: Favorite attraction in Liberty Square?

So if you can't figure out my favorite ride by the picture, than I don't know why you here. But I will tell you it's the Haunted Mansion.  I hated haunted houses and when I first went to Disney I didn't want to ride this at all. Until a few years later when I went back I rode it and love it. I especially love the end with the mirrors.

Out with old in with the Magic........

So it is now officially 2011. I can't believe how fast time flew by.

Now as few of you think about what trouble you may caused last night while wasted, roll out of bed or spend the day trying to get rid of that nasty hangover, there's those few of use who are now thinking about the FUTURE. Thinking about those applications that are coming out in only 19 days.

So now it's time for me to really think about the roles I'm gonna check off and prepare answers for possible questions in the phone interview, and work on the answer do that wonderful question of,"Why do you wanna work for Disney?". I'm ready to get this year started, I've met so many great people (my D-family) in the last half of 2010 and I even spent my New Years Eve with a few of them on Skype. I'm just ready to fill those applications and hopefully receive the magical purple folder.

I can't wait for my trip to Disney in the summer. I know this year will be a great year for me, and the rest of my D-Family. Truthfully, I've never been more excited for new year.

So let's raise our glass of whatever (pineapple soda, Dr.pepper, Coke, Pepsi, or Koolaid) and let's us cheers to a wonderful year to come.
